We get paid by the hour and tips and if you make your quota for the 2 week pay period you may be able to make commission. Commission for a hairdresser is usually 40% of all services and retail sales. How do hairdressers get paid exactly? How does their pay scale work?
What is the quota for the two week period? and what is the pay range per hour? I thought Hairdressers were paid only commission 40 - 60% of the sale? Tks..

Do they have fake dogs to practice grooming like they do for people hairdressers?
where can i get one?Do they have fake dogs to practice grooming like they do for people hairdressers?
I dont think so....But try calling a groomer facility and ask them how they learned to become groomers. Not everyone goes to school to learn grooming- some start out as bathers and work their way up.Do they have fake dogs to practice grooming like they do for people hairdressers?
Good question. I sure somewhere they do.
I have never heard of this. Most groomers-in-training learn by apprenticeship and practice under the supervision of a seasoned dog groomer. When I learned how to groom, I practiced first with ';bathing and brushing'; then ';roughing out'; dogs (using blades to shorten hair to prepare the dog for the finished grooming), ';face, feet and tail'; on poodles, and then as I gained experience and had plenty of observation I learned scissoring. After working with a groomer for a few years, I went on my own and opened a grooming dept. in a large pet store.
While in training, some dogs were groomed for free in order to practice a groom on a dog for a rare breed (like a poodle getting groomed like a Bedlington Terrier).
Some things learned while grooming: How to go with the grain of the hair and watch for swirl patterns, how to handle dogs that were nervous, how to secure potential or known biters, how to split mats and work them out, which blades to use for specific areas and types of clips and a whole lot more. It would be too expensive to practice this on inanimate objects, both in recreating the swirl patterns, flaps in the ears, etc and then once shaved the hair doesn't grow back..
Yes they do - but mostly they are used for competition. They are very expensive and once you've ';groomed'; them you can't really ';re-groom'; them. Most groomers learn to groom on real live dogs.
No, I don't believe they do.
Hmm. . . I never thought about that!
yes, try

they come in shih tzu and poodle
Not that I'm aware of. When I learned grooming, it was at a poodle kennel, and we used the kennel dogs to learn before working on a customer's dog. The good news is that the hair grows back if it's cut crooked or too short!
I have never heard of that but, it is a great idea.
You could practice with your friends dogs but, make sure they understand what you are going to do.
Also a word of caution with long coated dogs you need to be very careful I have a dog with a rear dew claw and I almost trimmed it off the one day.. Be careful of dew claws..
I practice grooming on my spayed dog so if I mess up then I don't have to worry about going to dog shows with a dog that is a mess.
Once I get a technique down then I feel comfortable trimming my show dogs...
I don't want to mess up my show dogs coat Believe me I have done it in the past and I don't want to do it again, I was VERY embarassed...
just use a stuffed poodle....
Nope. What you do is use doggie ';models';, borrow friends dogs, use shelter dogs, or advertise for free grooms. If you go to grooming school they provide the dogs.

Have you ever had your hair done at a college instead of an hairdressers?
I have naturally brown hair, but i had it dyed blonde, i had my routes done every month and stayed blonde for about a year, because it was to dear to keep having it done at the hairdressers my mum said i could have it done at a college, at the moment i have blonde hair with brown chunks in it so that when my routes come through it don't look to bad, but i want to go back all blonde, and it will be cheaper to have it done at a college by students. Have you ever had your hair done at a college instead of a salon and would you recommend it?Have you ever had your hair done at a college instead of an hairdressers?
I think it would be safe for you to have it done at a beauty school, the students are supervised as they do hair. However, why don't you start off with highlights and low-lights instead of going blonde all together? It might be a good way to ease yourself into the blonde hair and the roots won't be as noticeable.Have you ever had your hair done at a college instead of an hairdressers?
I did this as a favor for a friend of mine who was enrolled in a cosmetology program. Wasn't too impressed, but she was my friend. No harm done. They are supervised, but they stick to basics. No flair. They are still learning and this is their ';internship'; if you will. Hope this helps.
My aunt is a receptionist at a hair dresser college, and I had my hair cut and dyed, and my eyebrows done.
^^;;
Who cares just get your hair done. it's not that hard to dye hair, dosent take an amazing hair stylist. I could do that for gods sake.
i've had it done at neither.
how is this possible you ask?
lol....well my grandma is a hairdresser:):).coupons

Which cricketers would make good hairdressers when they retire?
If cricketers decided to become hairdressers after they retire from cricket (they cant all become commentaters) which ones would you prefer to cut your hair? Would you trust Chris Gayle with a pair of scissors only millimetres from your ear? How about Andrew Symonds or Shahid Afridi? My choice would be Kev Pietersen, what do you think?Which cricketers would make good hairdressers when they retire?
Brett Lee would be best hair dresser, see this

i will go for symonds. bcoz he will get retire after 2012 and the world will be no more then, the world will consist of monkeys not humans and symonds will be the one to survive, bcoz god wont make out if he is a man or monkey.
Probably, this fast bowler...

there are many, M Clarke, Devillier, Gayle, Malinga
1.Malinga
2.Symonds
3.Cameron white
4.Hershelle gibbs.........LOL
I think Kevin peterson is the best option. he can give better look to the customers then any other. Dhoni can also try it.
Andrew Symonds is already a very successful monkey trainer
Lasith Malinga.
I'm sure he could impart his knowledge of hair dye and inventive hair cuts to the wider world.
malinga
I wouldn't let any of them touch my hair.

Brak wants to know, ';How come I see christmas cards for hairdressers at CVS';?
Are we expected to send cards to everyone who serves us?
Next we'll be buying cards for gas station attendants, auto mechanics, %26amp; grocers.Brak wants to know, ';How come I see christmas cards for hairdressers at CVS';?
Only if you have a really regular hairdresser that you want to give a year end tip to. I don't think this is the case for most people. However, I usually give my girl a bigger tip following my appt just before Christmas.Brak wants to know, ';How come I see christmas cards for hairdressers at CVS';?
I think its just thoughtful, but no one told you it was mandatory to send them so why do you even ask? if you don't want to but it then don't. Do you really care?
because women are at the hairdresser so much they know them like family.
So now they make cards for the hairdresser too.
