Why do hairdressers charge more to cut a females hair?

Isn't this just sexism? or are they allowed because they are Lady-men?Why do hairdressers charge more to cut a females hair?
i honestly think it's because they know women will pay more for it. my husband won't pay more than $10 for a haircut and he doesn't care where he gets it. if i pay less than $60 I assume it's not a good cut. I know - ridiculous, but society made me believe it!Why do hairdressers charge more to cut a females hair?
It takes a bit longer to do a ladies hair than just a ';short back and sides';!
Because they are bent.
They charge what their customers are willing to pay.
Because sometimes ladies have long hair and more women will have longer hair than men. Also hairdressers usually take more time and effort with blow drying women's hair.
well, im sure womens hairdressers take a fair ammount of time to do the styles and stuff, personally my number 3 takes five minutes and cost me 5 quid
Well I'll give you the male consultation....'; So what are we doing today?'; '; Short on the back and sides and leave it finger length on top so I can wear it messy if I want.'; ( Cut time...10-15min )

Female consultation...'; So what are we doing today?'; ';jgfkl;h;awu;4hjfieo;ajek;kjfaeijfieo;am鈥?you get what I mean right?'; With women, we must take more time to be sure we are on the same page because what they explain, might not always be what they mean....Women's cuts and styles can take 45 min to an hour depending. Now not always a rule but it is the majority!
Men= less hair

women= more hair

They charge more because generally there is more to cut and it takes longer. That is the only reason Ive ever heard from a hair dresser.
more hair to work with. More mess to put up with. LOL!
no because our hair is longer
er i am not sure but i always thought it is because ladies have longer hair, therefore more time is needed to do more things? i dont think it is because of anything else! x
Well...look at it like this. If you had to dig a whole 1 foot long....you would charge one price...but if you had to dig a whole 4 foot long..you would charge extra right? Would you charge the same price for more work needed done? Probably not. Same with women's hair. Usually most hair salons set it at one price for hair above the shoulders..and a different price for below the shoulders.
more of it?
Because they have to listen to them gripe.
Probably because we are more picking about our hair than men are!
Ladies will usually have longer hair, better style more color more in demand and want a perfect result. Business outlooks their target market are females so if they raise their prices higher for females they know that they will make more profit as if the prices were to be the same for men they wouldn't make much. Hey us girls just want the best cut, color, service and all the inbetweens that's why. No its not sexism .
Because I sit down and say ';high %26amp; tight';. About 7 minutes later, I'm outta there for $7 and a $2 tiip.
there is more of it normally
usually the girls are more picky about there hair they dont just brush it like you GUYS do we have to make sumthin out of it so the girls usually ask for extra things thats probably why the prices are higher
More time and effort i reckon
because we have longer hair and many complicted haircuts to choose from!
Takes longer for the woman to make up her mind once she's sitting down
my best friend is a stylist, her shop charges more for womens hair because it is longer, they never want ';just a cut'; it is always cut to look like someone else's(styled), conditioned, blow dryed and styled. whereas mens cuts are pretty basic, usually a ';businessman's cut'; or a ';buzz cut';.

hardly ever any ';styling'; to a mans cut, but then again, more and more shops are using ';menu's'; and charging for length of hair, what they want done, how they want it done etc.
most men just need a trim or short back and sides lady,s want restyle it just takes longer
I guess its more hair and styling that = more time = more costs. Some just want a simple trim though maybe thats why i see more barbers doing trims on women now.
I don't know!! I hate it. Al I know is I always only go for a trim and refuse to pay $20 for that...so I just walk in and it's $10. They also have places like are like $12 no matter what gender you are.
I don't like having guys cut my hair, they always get too bossy about it. I think the price difference is due to women s styles being more complicated. It should be that you are paying for the skill level of the hairdresser, but I am not sure that it works out that way in the end
They dont it just depend on the length and what they have done. They have an average ammount for men and a different ammount for women because usually the lengths and what they ask for is different. Female styles are also a bit more difficult to cut. But again that depends.

Women are also willing to pay more but men would groan if they were over charged were as a women would prob go to the most expensive salon to ensure a good cut
because female are never happy with a simple cut... wash, dry, cut, colour, style yadda yadda yadda...
