Do hairdressers at salon use permanent hair dye or semi wen doing foils?

i went to hairdressers n got foils but they are too dark. just wondering if they will fade out?Do hairdressers at salon use permanent hair dye or semi wen doing foils?
Either or, or both, depending on the desired end result. She may have been too slow and the color oxidized too far. But it sounds to me like she used too dark of a color to begin with. Hair color is based on a 1-10 system. 1 being the darkest, 10 being pale blonde. Example, she used a level 4 instead of 6. If you wash your hair with dish soap 2 or 3 times, that always lightens artificial pigment because of the high PH.

Good Luck.Do hairdressers at salon use permanent hair dye or semi wen doing foils?
Don't wash your hair with dish soap! It's drying and might turn your hair to straw if the detergent is harsh enough (depends on brand). Use a clarifying shampoo: one for removing build-up and be sure to condition it well after.

Varies by hairdresser. Generally permanate, unless directed by the client otherwise. some people request semi-permanate.

It being too dark, has nothing to do with if it is permanate or not.

you should call your hairdresser back and ask.

Generally your hair will begin to fade, if its permanate possibly in a month, if semi, in 2-3weeks. depends on how often you wash your hair.

Hope i helped.
Even if they used permanent color, The color always fades due to hair products you regularly use, or with every shampoo. That is why you always have to end up coming back to the salon.
i'm not sure (i dye my own hair) but i think it will be cost efficient to semi dye your hair so when it fades you have to come back and pay them to do it again...
My hairdresser always uses permanent. - But that will still fade a tiny bit
All hair dye fades, Washing hair with hot water helps it fade as well.

Jamies Hair Care in Jeffersonville is really good.

Do u dye your hair yourself or go 2 the hairdressers?

Do you think its worth the 拢30-50 we spend on paying someone else to dye our hair or do you think its just as good as a 拢5 bottle to do it yourself?Do u dye your hair yourself or go 2 the hairdressers?
i always used to dye my hair and used a home kit, with no problems at all, cant see the sense i forking out all that money for something you can do yourself, its only because i want to grow all the colour out that i dont do it anymore,Do u dye your hair yourself or go 2 the hairdressers?
    hair salon fo sure!
myself, sometimes with help from friends
I go to the hairdressers because the home kit ones dont take right to my hair because of previous dye but I would much rather do it at home I might actually get the colour I want rather than colour they make me have!
It depends do you want to look like you did it yourself, or do you want it to look like you had a pro do it.

We can tell the people who did it them selves.

I think if you have knowlege your ok, if you have no clue

    go get it done.

Or you will end up spending way more in the end!

    Color corrections are expensive!!
I'm a hairdresser and have been for more than 15 yrs and not once have i ever put a box dye onto my hair , i do agree that the money salons charge are sometimes a bit to much but what would you rather have a colour that is even all over or a box dye that you miss half your hair, and end up going out to get another (and the box dye arnt the colour thay say on the not as well), also in a salon if its not what you thought it can be fixed straight away , most ladies that use the box dye end up going to the salon to fix there mistakes thay have made with the home dye anyway so i guess spending that little bit more is worth it , also as one girl said above there are sometimes loads of disasters in salons well that's down to the amount of training of that stylist .
When i get my hair died i go to the hairdressers, its not just as good from the bottle at all. hairdressers are way better.

However if you die your hair all the time its way to expensive to go to the hairdresser everytime.
Go to www.hairdressingnvq.co.uk, find about a course, get an NVQ in hairdressing then you can dye your hair yourself and in the long run you can save money. good idea or what
    I dye my hair myself.

I prefer the colour I get when I dye it myself.

    =]
never do it my self now had to many disasters always go to the hairdressers
I'm more likely to buy a cheapo dye and dye it myself. Recently, it was a bad idea as my hair's sorta. Well. Yellow.

At the hair dressers they use real products, peroxide and bleach. They're more worth it, it lasts longer. But, the bottle sometimes works good too.
    i do it myself.
its worth the money to get it done properlly
Always doin it myself i would b 4ever at hairdresser otherwise

Get one that washes out and experiment.

Mines quite light so takes alot of colors
well if you know some one who knows how then you might ask them, but if you don't then you' re better off at the hair dresser. and i suggest you ask some of you friends if they know any place thats good at that.
i don't dye my hair any moor I'm proud of the gray

but i used to do it my self its just as good and a lot cheaper
hairdresser - i cannot make cornflakes no chance with the hair
I go to my hairdresser - i cant be trusted to do it myself.

I used to use 'sun in' does anyone remember that - god it was orange!! haha
myself but if i am wanting to go back blond i would go to the hairdresser otherwise my self
Salon as have had too many disasters with my hair in the past when doing it myself.
I have done both and both turn out good, however, when I have a professional do it, it lasts longer. Go to Sally's or something like that and buy your stuff there. Don't buy the box stuff, buy the ' separates'. There are a few one time things you have to buy but they are not expensive. Have a friend come over and do it to each others' hair. If you purchase the 'salon' type products the color will be richer and last long then then box.
The hairdresser, They know about hair.
i doit myself..been to salon b4 and it looked the same as what i can do at home!
    myself
I dye mine myself. I've never had any real dilemmas yet (although I've probably just cursed myself, lol)
I always use a hairdressers.... they're more likely to be able to sort out mistakes than I am!
I do it myself but I'm really quite good at it.
I dye it myself it makes me feel like an independant woman.Power to all us women.Besides hairdressers are just men u cant have because they are gay.
You should totally go to the salon. You don't need srewed up hair
I really think that its your preference. There are chances of really damaging your hair if you do it the wrong way or mess up. The fumes from the chemicals are really bad but you'll get that where ever you decide to go. I found that getting it done in a salon has the color stay longer than doing it yourself. I would say salon but do you want to spend that extra money for that extra week or so? After you color or perm you hair it is damaged and will never be as strong as it was before.
NEVER do it yourself. I have had so many hair diasters, and you will pay double to get it fixed.

  • How to ask for a swept fringe at a hairdressers...?

I'm getting my hair cut tomorrow and I have an idea of what I want done in my head but I can never get this image across to the hairdresser so I'm never fully happy with what I get done. This time I want a swept side fringe that starts about my eyebrow length and gradually get longer and shorter layers to make it more choppy. If any hairdressers or anyone could help me with how to put this across it would be great :)How to ask for a swept fringe at a hairdressers...?
First ask for a Shag with 3 sets of choppy layers, if they don't already ask them to use a razor.

I have dark brown hair but i want to get it dyed temporarily black at the hairdressers will it turn out good?

What is the best one to use and where can you buy them patches to see if i would have a reaction with the hair dye please tell me thankies :D :D :DI have dark brown hair but i want to get it dyed temporarily black at the hairdressers will it turn out good?
A semi permanent rinse would be your best bet and the least damaging. These only deposit color on top (coats) of the hair shaft and can last anywhere from 2-6 sometime 7,8 washes depending on the brand! These types of color usually have no peroxide or ammonia so the damaging effects are limited and can also help make the hair stronger while many may contain alcohol which can be drying a good conditioner is also recommended. They come in a variety of colors Clairol makes several as well as many others Roux, Wella to the higher end Sebastian Cellophane's(although the Sebastian line has been discontinued many stores still have stock)to name a few and can be found at any Beauty Supply store as well as many drug stores, larger supermarkets and chain stores (IE. Wall-Mart,Target)as well as on-line just do a search on semi permanent hair color. While they are quite simple to do although they can be messy but there are plenty available on the market for the DIY'er. Generally you would purchase the rinse you'd like to use and do a patch test on the inside of the arm 24-48 hours before actually coloring.I have dark brown hair but i want to get it dyed temporarily black at the hairdressers will it turn out good?
Clairol makes a semi permanent black dye (natural instincts #36 midnight, found in most drug stores). It will wash out in about a month, and since its not permanent, it won't damage your hair.
brunnete, is such a sexy sassy hair colour,

    i wouldnt die it black!

start of with some black highlights maybe,

and if you hate it, just try black out,

but i would want to ruin such a sassy beautiful hair colour,

    :]
Some people's hair won't hold hair dye. I know mine won't hold a darker color whether I get it done at the salon or use the stuff at home. Something about the pigmentation... Make sure you test it out first so you don't end up with funky gray colored hair for a month or so.

Are there any hairdressers in london that specialise in curly hair?

Hi, i usually go to a salon and ask for a hairdresser with curly hair that way they know what to do and how to do it cause there hair is curly. Are there any hairdressers in london that specialise in curly hair?
Why don't try to contact on phone to a local service provider they have the all info. required to go ahead.

How long would it take in the hairdressers for a cut and a full head dye (one colour?) thanks?

That depends on a lot of things: how long your hair is, how resistant it is (some people have hair that processes in 10 minutes, it takes so people an hour for that), and how complicated of a cut you are wanting. It can range from 45 minutes to 2 hours if your hair is really resistant. How long would it take in the hairdressers for a cut and a full head dye (one colour?) thanks?
i would say at least 1 hour depending on the color and how much hair you have - it takes almost 2 hrs when i get full highlights and a cut

Why do hairdressers say not to use Pantene shampoo and conditoner?
because it's not good for your hair-no drug store brand products are, they dry out your hair and don't contain good ingredients
    Probably the silicone.
has alcohol in it that will dry out hair
they are jealous because pantene works better than they do
It coats your hair with wax.
Because it has alcohol in it and it dries ur hair just likr mine.
it is a very good shampoo and it is the best shampoo for my curly hair. It doesn't make my hair dry
no clue but i use pantine all the time.
I have to go with the opinion that it's because it's not one of the products that they get paid to sell. I use Pantene and really like it.
Extra oils to make hair shine but weighs it down - Sauve is the worst.
cos they want to sell there oven stuff
because they aren't paid enough to promote it?
I used before and it all lies it never work.
I use it,and have so far not encountered any drying results.you must take into account some ( and not all ) hairdressers get commission for selling in store products which usually are higher priced.
no clue but i'll go with the alcohol answer thanx.

  • Why do hairdressers think I care about their life story?

Just cut my hair and shut up! I don't care about your love life, your finanical problems, or what a bad morning you had. I just want a good haircut and some peace and quiet to go along with it.Why do hairdressers think I care about their life story?
I don't know, but if you figure out a way to make them shut up (or just have a nice, generalized talk about weather), PLEASE let me know. It seems that the worse their day has been, the harder they are when shampooing and brushing my hair. OUCH! They are trying to make conversation.
Just do what I do tell them either to please be quiet, say you have a headache, or use your IPod. lol sometimes i use a combo of all three..
Just humor them I guess...a good barber will listen to the client talk.

  • If you go to get your hair cut into a style, will hairdressers cut off what they think is dead hair?

My friend has really long blonde hair, its beautiful, shes never been to the hairdressers, she wants her hair cut into a style but not any shorter, well not too much shorter, will they cut off dead hair even if she asks them not to?If you go to get your hair cut into a style, will hairdressers cut off what they think is dead hair?
Right, im a hairdresser.. Tell your friend when she goes into the salon and they give her a consultation to firstly suggest that she wants nothing taken from the length! tell her to repeat herself and make sure the stylist is clear in what she is saying. But yes i reccomend her getting layers put in which will give it more boost, layers are very flattering but again if she is not getting any off the length i reccomend on her getting longer layers first then gradually if she is happy get them taken shorter.

And tell her NOT TO GET A PERM!! if she has damaged cuticules they will be more visible! plus when getting a perm.. in my knowledge everyone regrets it as it tends to dry your hair out.If you go to get your hair cut into a style, will hairdressers cut off what they think is dead hair?
I'm Pretty Sure They Won't. But Tell Her To Be Exactly Specific Of What She Wants Or They Won't Understand. -Maybe Take A Picture Or Something-

Also Make Sure The Hairstylist She's Going To Is Professional. -You Don't Want Them To Do Anything Stupid To Her Hair-

Just Ask Them Not To Cut The Dead Hair Off, To Leave It.

    :)
If she tells them not to, then they should listen to her, and not cut off the hair. But I'm sure they'll advise that she cut off the dead hair.
If she asks them not to they aren''t allowed to.

get choppy layers and some blonde highlights, i think full bangs are very in style right now, and would look great since your hair is naturally straight.

I would do anything for long and straight dark brown hair! I have red wavy hair and 'ugh!' girl I know what you mean!

I would take a few layers off, then put some red, blond, and darker brown streaks in it. It would look like it has many colors in it instead of one. You could layer it a bit too I guess.

Hairdressers with damaged blonde hair knowledge?

hey! im a stylist....my suggestion is find a good salon...personally im all about paul mitchell salons....and talk to one of the sylist there. Let them examine your hair and they should give you their best professional opinion. You can also get conditioning treatments at the salon or let them suggest a treatment for at home. I do not recommend buying anything from a store, those products are not made well.Hairdressers with damaged blonde hair knowledge?
    Hi,

Your scalp must be dry, even though you stopped bleaching you are confessing the damage is done and what did you do to undo the damage? There is a 100% natural lotion which will hydrate your scalp and strengthen your hair roots called Ziravie, it definately worked on me. I would ask every friend, relative and enemy to use it.
well you should maybe wait a week or two, and put some moisture treatments to strengthen try this:

This is a updated mullet and if you went in asking for that your hair just may get botched. Take the picture in and you will get closer results to wat you want. Another thing I noticed with this hair cut is that it almost looks like the girl had super short hair and had extensions put in. The style on the hair cut is the only thing that makes this hair cut look good. Its a high maintenance style. GOOD LUCK!
tell her u want something kinda like a scene haircut. and dont be embarassed i take a pic in everytime i get my hair done, it helps them know what they r doing better, ussually they like it. :)
Print the picture or put it on your phone like you wanted. No need to be embarrassed if you want the haircut :)
just take the pic with you......it really cute i like it alot...........i think you should get it
yeah just print it or put the pic in your phone

Ideas to get 2 year old child 2 allow the hairdressers to cut his hair?

my 2 year old son hates getting his haircut he screams he kicks and carries on. what can i do to get him 2 sit still, we have tried toys, books everythingIdeas to get 2 year old child 2 allow the hairdressers to cut his hair?
Not exactly what you're looking for, but we solved the problem by cutting the toddler's hair ourselves. We'd get him to sit still for a few minutes at a time, so we'd cut it in stages--over a couple of days.

I can't imagine getting a 2 yr. old boy to sit still for a stranger in a strange room while the stranger is wielding interesting-looking instruments. Too much excitement and too much fear of what's going to happen. But if mom does it, in stages (so that he doesn't have to sit still for too long at one time), it is quite do-able. (And 2 yr. olds don't care if they don't have the most fashionable haircut.)Ideas to get 2 year old child 2 allow the hairdressers to cut his hair?
you should try that salon where they sit the kids not on an ordinary chair but a car or an airplane where they can tinker away and be distracted. they normally just sit there without realizing it's over already. if it still doesn't work you might wanna cut the child's hair yourself -- and while he's sleeping! at least that's what I did with my active toddler then and it worked ;D
You can sit first in the salon's chair, then sit him on your lap and turned 90 degrees. A bag of cookies to munch on helps too.
Get the kid a crew cut down to stubble with no guard on the razor

that way you wont have to take him
I do it myself and try and catch him asleep if possible. He doesn't move as much.

Can I dye my hair blonde without going to the hairdressers?

I have got auburn colour hairCan I dye my hair blonde without going to the hairdressers?
You can, but when you're going lighter, it can be unpredictable and you may end out with something other than what you intended. Can I dye my hair blonde without going to the hairdressers?
I have very dark brown hair and I use Loreal Paris coloring kit to dye my hair a natural blonde color. It took a few times and I needed to leave it on my hair for 45 minutes each time but now I am able to do it in the normal 30 minute session. I found it dried out my hair pretty bad but found that a product called Biosilk Therapy worked really well. It's a sort of oily product that I put in while my hair is wet and leave it in. It really soaks it up and helps to condition it after coloring it.
yeah depends what colour you want ?
You can but a hairdresser will be able to do it better and give you extra things to put in your hair to make it healthier. Bleaching your hair comepletely fries it, so make sure you take good care of it.
Yes you can buy getting the blond hair die it might take a couple of times and you might fry your hair but youll get it done.
    you better ask them first
    yeah...

just go to any store near

and buy a hair coloring stuff

you will look as if a dresser

    made your hair
Yea, my friend has the same color hair as you and hers turned out really well

Just go to your local cvs and get clairol hairpainting

But leave it on for like an hour and it comes out looking great

    Good luck
You can, but do so at your own risk. I have died my hair many ties at home, resulting in not so great results that either have to be re-done by hairdressers(which can get expensive) or just wait until it grows out. If you do it at home, get a reliable hiar dye from CVS and follow the directions no matter what.
yesssss you certainly can. you can go to target or one of those stores to get the dye and you can do it at home!!

i do it and its better than going to the salon lol

    good luck :]

Have you ever been slapped in the face by your hairdressers boobs?

i have and it was not pleasant. It was like drowning in a sea of cellulite.Have you ever been slapped in the face by your hairdressers boobs?
I've had a couple of stylists rub their boobs on my face and head. It happens a lot in female salons. One girl loves to lean her cootch into my elbow as she's working on my hair. After the third time I just pushed back and rubbed her. We ended up in my bed later that night.

SHave you ever been slapped in the face by your hairdressers boobs?
It wasn't pleasant but you don't have to endure the pain.
    haha wtf.

to respond to ur question on my question. A blow it fade is a joke word up. Why do you want to be like the Gotti boys? Come on get your own style and look unique. At least get a pump fade.. But it is your choice. To get that done you should go to a BARBER SHOP not a SALOn....Are there any Hairdressers around Oak Forest/Midlothian/Crestwood IL that can do the Blowout?
Ok blowouts are played out... Its the modern day mullett according to my barber.... You should get a taper fade its the same idea except you dont have spikey hair sticking up, it all lays flat. And you need to go to a barber that cuts black peoples hair or alot of latino hair they would know how to do it the best... the lady at super cuts will have no idea what your talking about.

Do you hate hairdressers that ask too many questions?

I went to the hairdresser who just asked too many questions. When she asked what I did and told her I was looking for a job (I lied) The man getting his haircut near me told me that where he worked was looking for people. They gave me pen and paper to get the name of the person I had to see and wouldn't stop asking me questions. I didn't go for the job (I am on disablity) but I hated the intrusion into my life. How do you handle this?Do you hate hairdressers that ask too many questions?
Learn to keep your personal life personal. You don't have to join in to these types of conversations. Set your own boundaries. Stop lying, that only makes things worse, as you saw.Do you hate hairdressers that ask too many questions?
I have had a different sort of experience but it was somewhat the same. In that it happened in a beauty salon but the person doing my hair was asking me questions but she did not understand my answers because while she spoke english she did not understand it.

So she would ask me where I worked. When I said I don't work anymore. She said oh is this your day off? I said no I do not work anymore. She said oh so you are the manager? I was getting frustrated. I did not hate it but I kept wondering how come she was not able to understand english. She then asked me how my husband was and I said I am not married. She then said maybe he is at home? So it was getting so annoying that when I left I had to laugh. It was a riot.
Just turn the questions round back onto them. They are being polite in talking, but you could just ask them why they got into hairdressing, how long they have been training, do they have children ....?

Personally I prefer a hairdresser to talk and have a laugh. I find it uncomfortable when they just grunt or give one syllable answers or chat on their mobile phones.
I would just be polite and explain your situation. I think they were all just trying to be friendly and helpful in this bad economic climate. I do though get annoyed with hairdressers talking way too much and not concentrating on my hair.
I ignore them. I came to get my haircut, not chat it up with strangers.

Next time you have to go, bring something to read.
I say, ';Getting my hair cut is a real treat for me. I love how it feels. It's so relaxing to me. I 'm going to close my eyes and enjoy while you do your thing. But you can interrupt me if you need to ask something about my hair.'; Then I take off my glasses %26amp; close my eyes.

I say it b/c it is true. I love having my hair messed with like brushing, washing %26amp; cuts.

Most of them get the hint from the word ';interrupt.'; But if not, I'll open my eyes, lean forward, pick up my glasses, turn to look at them %26amp; answer the question. That takes so much time that they don't want to keep asking questions that will slow their chair down from making money.

    If it takes a 3rd time. I repeat above %26amp; add, ';Honey, I don't want to be rude, but I'd like to lay back %26amp; rest quietly while you work b/c I have to do a lot of errands when I leave %26amp; this is my only chance to power nap.';

BTW, they're fake glasses. I only have one lens in them.

Anyway, I've rarely ever had to go past step one. They like to work %26amp; keep chair filled with paying customers. Maybe some feel it's expected of them to keep customer entertained during boring hair cut. I think they like being told that they are not obliged to keep me company.

  • Does it annoy hairdressers when you're not sure what you want?

Often I go to get my hair cut, with just a vague idea of the look I want. The problem is when they ask what I want, all I can really say is roughly how long I want it.

I'd like to know of they find this really annoying, or if they are glad to have the opportunity to experiment and be a bit creative, styling the hair how they want.

Would they be happy if I said ';Cut it how you want, just make it look good,'; only worded a little more politely? Input from those in the business would be greatly appreciated.Does it annoy hairdressers when you're not sure what you want?
Im a hairdresser and i get a lot of clients like yourself. I would just suggest looking at magaizines and pointing out thinsg you may like and if length is all you want to keep there are many things you cna experiement. You cna also ask your hairdresser what tehy think may suit you , how much layering, fringe styles etc etc. A haircut is much more that just a haircut so its understandable when clients cannot make up their mind or have only certain things they require (eg your length)

I would say find a good hairdresser u can trust in and try new things but also be aware of big changes as you may not liek them etcDoes it annoy hairdressers when you're not sure what you want?
I go through phases where I say ';do what you think would look good on me';. it's fun.

Not only does it annoy them, it also scares them a bit. The fact they they cut are peranently altering your hair when you may not like it must be intimidating. You couldn't pay me enough to cut hair!

they smell really nice aswell :)

and you can buy them from there aswell, and alot of other hairdressers also sell the products they use to customersWhat do hairdressers put in your hair after your cut that makes it all soft and shiny?
usually hair dressers give u a hair wash after cuttingg your hair.. they then apply a conditioner which makes hair smooth and shiny.

there are 2 types of conditioners though.one type is when uapplyy on your wet hair after shampooing and then rinse the conditioner off after gently massaging your scalp.a good conditioner would be dove..you can choose a conditioner based on your hair type -normal,oily,for hair breakage etc.. i use dove conditioner and i feel its real good.

the other type ofconditionerr is what u use after your hair wash but udon'tt rise it off.. it just stays on your hair and its easier to comb your hair..What do hairdressers put in your hair after your cut that makes it all soft and shiny?
    Depends what product you use.

My hairdresser suggested i use a cream with thngs like water, cyclopentsiloxane, propylene glycol dicaprylate, hydrolyzed silk, eugenol and all them sort of things in it. But thats also to protect my hair fom straightening it all the time lol.
    My hairdresser uses 2 things:

1.Mizani hairspray(found at any beauty supply store)

    2.Cricket hairspray(professional use only)

I hope this is useful to you :D
Sometimes a silicone spray that really leaves your hair glistening, sometimes wax or oil, depends on your hair type. You need to ask them and you usually can buy the stuff to use at home too.
    Crisco

Do you hairdressers legally require qualifications?

Does a hairdresser legally have to have qualifications to work as a hairdresser? or can anyone just open a shop, call them selves a hair dresser and start selling cuts! Oh and if they do require qualification, who is the governing body?Do you hairdressers legally require qualifications?
Hairstylists in the US must be licensed cosmetologists to serve a clientele. Each state has their own licensing requirements, which consist of a certain amount of hours in training and passing of a practical and written test, or if already licensed in one state, license reciprocity or state educational requirement fulfillment. (Basically meaning, the state board can either recognize your state's license, or they can make you go back to school, regardless of your previous educational and work history.) Some states also require continuing education, and credits are given by attending certain hair shows and classes. The governing body would be The State Board of Cosmetology for whichever state the stylist chooses to work.

yes , i did this before .. she will be able to cut it but only if ur hair could be cut this way , maybe ur hair is not thick enough or whatever

    hope i helped =)
    probably yes(depends on the hairdresser)

but bring a picture that shows the haircut very clearly!!!
yeah they will just say you want it cut like that and they should do it
yup if your hair have enough length n d hair texture similiar with the picture that u want to cut!
it depends on the person and if u want it like that u need pictures of the hair style from different angles
depends on the skills of da hairdersser.

I'm a boy and I want an emo/ scene haircut. Do I straigten my hair before I go to the hairdressers?

My hair is quite wavey and curls up at the back. I straighten it occassionally at home.

I wondered if I should go to the salon with my hair the way it looks naturally or straighten it first?

I've never actually been to a salon before so any other tips would be great.

Thank you!I'm a boy and I want an emo/ scene haircut. Do I straigten my hair before I go to the hairdressers?
nahh, leave it curly and explain to them that you can straighten it :]

im a girl with emo / scene hair, and its really really layered and razored and I straighten it everyday, and they still cut it how I wanted.

also you should try finding a picture of the cut you like and bring it with you, because they could get he wrong idea and mess it up!

    good luckk!

:]I'm a boy and I want an emo/ scene haircut. Do I straigten my hair before I go to the hairdressers?
I had this problem when i went to get mine cut...

so uhm yeah i didnt straighten it and i have curly hair, they are just going to make it wet and it should be strait then.

uhm and then search on google for some pictures you like bring them in, it helps if you bring in pictures from all angles, it just makes it easier for them..

but if you get your hair cut you will want to get into the habit of always straightening it, what i did is a month before i got it cut i straightened it everyday so i was prepared.
Style your hair the way you like it. This would give your hairstylist an idea how you style your hair and she could see how your hair ';falls';. She should ask you what kind of products you use. If you want to continue with this style. How long do you want your bangs. After shampooing, she would get a better idea of your natural texture and would be able to cut it the right way. She might also suggestion products for you to use. Use what you feel comfortable using and what you can afford. Good luck.
No the hair stylist needs to see what the natural texture of your hair is so that she can give you the best cut for your hair.

Let Him/Her know that your style it a certain way and what you are looking to achieve with the cut and they will make suggestions to make it look the best with your hair.
Hehe I love guys that straighten their hair :)

I'm sure you can leave it as it is and maybe just bring a picture of how you want it to look, explaining that you can straighten it so they know how long/short to cut it :) x
well whatever u do just make sure to tell the people at the salon what you did with it. i would suggest just leaving it to be normal. tell them there that u straighten your hair and u want them to straighten it and then cut it.
*sigh* I want to say something witty here, I really do. But you're just not worth the effort. You deserve the beating that you'll inevitably receive, as does any guy that has that ridiculous hairstyle.
no go with it how it naturally is, and then tell them what you do on a normal basis and ask them to straighten it when they style it. good luck! :)
no, thay wash it when you come in so it will be straight and they will style it as they cut it if you ask them to
No..They will just wet your hair before they cut it. Just go as you are, and they will do the cutting and styling.
    Lol so do I
my mate says you do not have to

Are hairdressers grossed out by dandruff?

Well I have bad dandruff and I want to try a different salon ((which I have never been to. I have been going to the same person since forever and I guess she is used to my dandruff.)) and I'm a little self concious that people will think it's gross. So if your a hairdresser could you tell me what you think? And please don't tell me to use shampoo because I have used T-Gel and Head and Shoulders and I still havn't got any results. Are hairdressers grossed out by dandruff?
No its true many people have this condition, its kinda like a dentist getting grossed out at someones bad breath, If a few flakes of dandruff is worry then id say ur lucky it could b worse. Try olive oil massaged onto ur scalp for every night for a week or so, it should help. Olive oil is one of the few oils that penetrates the skin and hair, its great for removing makeup also, the ancient skin secret. Are hairdressers grossed out by dandruff?
Just give them a generous tip because imagine if you were the one having to deal with someone else's dandruff.
I don't see why they would; they do hair for a living, so I'm sure they probably come in contact with dandruff all of the time.

(Have you ever tried Sulfur8 shampoo? I occasionally get dandruff, my son did, and my husband does, and after 2-3 washes with it, it's gone for at least a month or two. And T-Gel and H%26amp;S never works for us, either).
Not really, alot of people have dandruff and I bet it's not the first time they have worked on somebody with dandruff.
    Naww
i don't see why you should worry. your PAYING for your hair to get done i'm sure you arn't the first person they have worked on with dandruff
think about it... they are really used to it.
theyve probably all seen it before, so no.

Also im 29 now so am I likely to get taken on when I finish? and lastly any idea what the salary is at that level? this will be much apreciated!Hairdressers! If I complete nvq 1 and 2 and get a job in a salon would I start by assisting the hairdressers?
it completely depends upon which salon you apply to, what they are looking for etc.. chances are that if you are qualified and not a ';junior'; then in your interview they will ask you lots of questions, get you to do some examples of cuts, colours etc on a model and then they will decide upon your capabilities and hire you accordingly. if you are fully qualified really you should go straight to cutting though, sometimes salons won't be so quick as to get you colouring though as colouring is much more than getting NVQ's it is a science, a chemistry which is why uneducated hairdressers sometimes manage to mess up clients hair, most of them haven't even HEARD of colour remover, they just try and bleach colour out- eek!Hairdressers! If I complete nvq 1 and 2 and get a job in a salon would I start by assisting the hairdressers?
you wont be taken on straight as a hairdresser ..i had to do another year on the floor, but then i was 18 . salary wont be very good probably minimum wage + tips .you could do the course,go into a salon for a year to pick up hints and tips and to improve your speed then go mobile .
It all depends on the salon and on weather thay ask you to bring a model in for your interview so thay can see what you can do , you just could be just started of as a junior stylist and maybe do the odd blow drys and maybe putting some rollers in and putting colours in - assisting a senior stylist , every salon is different so it all depends on them , if i was you when you finish your nvq 1 and 2 do your nvq lever 3 it will go down better on your cv when looking for a job .

sometimes is doesn't matter what age we are we all have to start by making the teas and coffees , brushing the floor i still do it now and Ive been doing hairdressing for over 15 yrs , not sure on what salary as again every salon pays different.
You'll start making the coffee and shampooing and watching and helping to learn and the pay is likely to be the minimum wage.
If you are qualified enough and have a great knowledge and prove to your employer you will not mess up a clients hair well i guess you may be considered to start cutting straight away. But we all have to start somewhere!
depending upon the salon u mtie get ur clients wen ur start but b prepard 2make cups of coffee n tea no matter how qualified u am ull still do the odd 1 :)

    gd luck :)

What do you hate about the hairdressers?

I'm a hairdresser %26amp; I hate having my hair cut! Even though I have a fully qualified, friend cutting my hair I sit there inwardly squirming thinking ';Oh god, what is she doing to my hair?'; %26amp; I feel really awkward speaking up if I'm unhappy, lol. I had it cut this morning %26amp; the first thing I did when I got home was get my scissors out, make a few adjustments then re-style it.What do you hate about the hairdressers?
My hair is quite long, so they always make me stand to have it cut. What do you hate about the hairdressers?
I hate the way they don't cut your hair as you ask and simply do what they want anyway. It's very frustrating.

    and

They NEVER cut my fringe short enough and I have to do it myself when I get home! I like a short fringe which I sweep to one side and they simply don't get it when I explain that to them!!!!!!!!!
i've got long hair, its curly as well, and i want to know what the obsession is about trying to make me have it cut short?! i look awful with short hair cos its thick and curly. i like my hair long, i only want a trim, not six inches off! so i hate that they always want to give me a short hairstyle when all i want is a trim. cheers for the rant! lol
the old ladys that stare at me when i am getting my hair done

sorry but it is the truth

    regards x kitti x
Paying the extortionate bill is the only bit I dislike.
Im usually happy to trust a hairdresser with my hair but the last one was so busy telling me about her rich boyfriend that she bodged me new 'do, so i hate it when they dont concentrate!
The wait, the cost, the lack of communication.

I can do my hair for only $24.00 or less where it would cost $90-$120 for the same procedure at the salon and use the same products they use.
well, i'm a hair dresser myself- and even i hate when another stylist cuts my hair too much. i do my own hair rather than paying someone else to do it for me and mess it up anyway.
I hate EVERYTHING about going to the hairdressers! I would rather go to the dentist. I never know what to say to make conversation and even if I did the hairdryers are so loud and I never can hold my head in the right position. Oh and I HATE the hairwashing sinks. And it never looks right until I can get home and wash out all that hairdresser stuff and mess it up a bit. I can't figure out how some people think getting your hair cut is a treat!
Everything...Absolutely everything! They never listen to what you want, they give you what they think is best, they prattle on about s**t your not interested in, they pull and tug you about etc. I avoid them like the plague. Many (many lol) years ago I had mine done for my wedding, I blooming well hated it! First thing I did after signing the book was brush it out. I ended up with what looked like an affro! I'm white girls.rofl. No reception piccies of me. Can count on one hand the number of times I've been, I intend to keep it that way.
God where do I begin?! The 5 hours it takes to do my highlights, the way they never do what you ask them to, the way they don't know how to cut thick hair, the way you can't use the words ';choppy'; or ';volume'; without coming out looking like an American newsreader, but mostly the way I'm too chicken to tell them what I really think at the end!
the prices they charge for something so simple as a trim. i cut my hair by myself and it's as good as any hairdressers' work. and i hate it when they talk to you, look i want my hair done, not an hour long chat about god-knows-what!!
I hate how they 1. don't do what you tell them 2. give you a hair cut you didn't ask for and completely go against what you said (suggesting a better idea or telling you it won't look good on you- thats fine but doing even wihout consulting you first that's not fine)

I've only gotten one cut I was slightly pleased with and it wasn't what I asked for btw!
I hate it when you ask for a style and they say your hair is to thick so they do what they want to.

    x
I hate the way they witter on about nothing whilst cutting three inches off your hair instead of the little trim you asked for...and why do they all have to have massive windows so that everyone can see you sat there like a chump with a towel on your head ? I really don't like going.....as you can probably guess!
I've had a few bad experiences with hairdressers!

One time I asked for a trim, about an inch off the length, but she took a great chunk out and when I said that was too much, she said it was too late, she'd hqave to finish it like that, or it would look odd!

I was too upset to complain about it. She left an inch below my ears and it had been below shoulder length!

I started my new job the next day and got told that I looked like a boy with boobs!

The other was a perm that was meant to make me look like I had a slight wave, but as soon as I left the salon it was raining, and went straight to my mum's.

My mum and brother answered the door and immediately burst into fits of laughter and fell about on the floor, rolling around in hysterics!

My 'slight wave' had gone into tight ringlets in the rain, leaving me looking like orphan Annie!

Needless to say, I'm very nervous of going to a hairdressers now!
are you mad I'm also a hairdresser if you feel that way about your(FRIEND) so clad cutting your hair find another stylist maybe a peer at lest some one you trust.remember it will grow back you off all should no not to cut your own hair how would you feel if it was your clients going home and cutting there hair after you cut it i don't think you would be too pleased so grow up............
They never get your hair the way you want it----and then they have the nerve to smile and hold out their hand and expect us to pay for the privilege.
i dont like the fact that when they cut your hair the scissors are always in motion they take a snip off your hair then they do another three when no hair is being cut they waste time doing this so it seems they are really taking there time on perfecting your style, and the face that most hairdressers are so over priced and there products are so expensive, i am happy with my sunsilk shampoo anc onditioner so stop trying to get me to but salon products!

What is the name of the smooth, plastic hair rollers that hairdressers have so hair comes out tight spirals??

And what do they actually look like?? instead of using velcro rollers which someone said would tangle up my hair. What is the name of the smooth, plastic hair rollers that hairdressers have so hair comes out tight spirals??
Perm rods. You can get them at Sally Beauty supply. They are cylindrical, with wide ends and a tapered middle. They use a rubber cord to secure them to your hair. Very easy to use. What is the name of the smooth, plastic hair rollers that hairdressers have so hair comes out tight spirals??
They're called Magnetic Rollers. Like you said, they're smooth and they come in different sizes. They're used for roller sets, and in order for you to get spirals, you would roll the hair vertically as opposed to horizontally. Just use some type of setting lotion (I prefer to use the concentrated version so that I can make the set hard, medium or soft) and water (directions on the back of the product), while the hair is damp, spray setting lotion/water mix onto section that you are rolling, use the rollers in a vertical direction to wrap hair around roller and clip the roller in using double prong clips, sit under a dryer (time will vary depending on thickness of hair) and let it completely dry. Take the rollers out and you're done!
i think you mean molton brown type rollers, they are long and bendy. Take a look at this cool gadget my wife uses

In UK, do you tip hairdressers and if so what percentage?

As it is not customary to tip in cabs or pubs, I want to understand if it is practise to tip hairdressers. In UK, do you tip hairdressers and if so what percentage?
10%In UK, do you tip hairdressers and if so what percentage?
i used to tip a pound or so

however i have now got my own electric razor, and i cut my own hair,
i always tip hairdressers and cab drivers without hesitation. I think it is standard to tip a taxi driver
    I don't
i live in the U K and i tip in bars and cabs and my hairdresser
10% is not a bad guideline, but go for a round number rather than work it out to the penny, I'd round up more if I'm pleased with the cut and think I've had good value, or down if I think the price is already a bit steep. Cabbies and waiters definitely expect a tip, similar guideline.

i dont - it costs too much as it is!
    good question !!!!
    10% is normal
Yes, unless they are the owner, as they uaually have more money than me.

I usually tip what ever cahnge there is in my purse.
It used to be usual to tip the girl who washes your hair and the stylist themself but not if they are the actual owner of the salon.

I don't know if this still applies.
In the UK you don`t have to tip altough lots of people tip in pub`s resturants and taxi`s but normally only if the service is good and they tip what ever they want , so if your hair is done nice give a good tip if your not happy with it, its simple don`t tip,
on the whole i don't really think you need too they charge you enough already
Tipping hairdressers is nice, but unlike living in the US, where is is near obligatory to tip, the UK does not have the same tipping culture (although some argue it is developing). If you think the hairdresser has done a good job, you could tip, but it isn't the end of the world if you don't.
    5%
i have a hair dresser come to my house , my hair normally costs 拢25 , so i normally give her 拢27

How do I explain what I want to the hairdressers?

I'm getting my hair done next week, and I have a bit of a hairdresser phobia, meaning I never get the right cut I want, either because I dont say it right or lack of communication. What is the technical term if i want my VERY thick curly shoulder length hair to have a bit cut off, bangs to the side @ about cheekbone length and super thick, straight and thinner hair. And should I let them use a razor on my hair again? And if your getting those bangs that are sideswept would I get better results if I requested they DONT use a razor, because otherwise my bangs don't look smooth, they look raggedy. Thanks SOOOO much for helping me ! xDHow do I explain what I want to the hairdressers?
If you go to a very highly skilled stylist you should be fine. Just take along pics of what you want and what you don't want. I did that for my color with a new stylist bc it's hard to describe color without a picture. I selected a few shades/variations and let her choose the ';best'; one according to her professional opinion and we agreed on a game plan. Also, when you choose a pic, try to find one with the amount of volume you are looking for, or look around the salon to see if anyone is similar in that regard. If you don't want ';big'; hair tell her so. The point is, it's good to know their work before you let them work on your hair. Obviously, you get what you pay for. I always observe before I choose a stylist. How do I explain what I want to the hairdressers?
Pics are very useful with a great stylist, they'll choose the tools to get the effects you want. Just stick with the high-end salons and highly skilled talent. My hair looks 1000x better now!

i always find pics of hair i like and show my hairdresser. your hair will never look exactly like the pics because everyone has different hair but it could be really close depending on the hairstyle you want with your hairs texture.even though you tell them what you want it might not be possible with your hair.
    steps:

1)imagine how u want your hair

2)draw it on a piece of paper

3)bring the paper to the salon and show it to the hair designer

    hope my idea worked
I have the same problem. You should just bring her a picture.
ask them wat they suggest or look though hair books
Take a picture with you for them to see. It's best to pick a model with the hair style you want with the same face shape as yours so you know it will suit you
    bring her a picture.

Is there something you can get done at the hairdressers that will make my hair smooth and silky?

my hair is in BAD shape between the ocean, pool, lake, and sun, is there anything i can do to get it smooth again? Is there something you can get done at the hairdressers that will make my hair smooth and silky?
Try deep-conditioning. When I broke my ankle, I wasn't able to wash my hair that often, and it got really frizzy and dry. So I got it deep-conditioned at the salon, and it came out really healthy and soft. I hope I helped. Is there something you can get done at the hairdressers that will make my hair smooth and silky?
lots and lots of deep conditioning! try using leave in conditioners, gets your ends trimmed, dont straighten or curl his hair, and try waxes even as well.

  • I'd like to know what some hairdressers honestly think when you get a client with scalp psoriasis?

Does it bother you at all, cos it must be a little gross to look at? I've got it and for years I've avoided going to any hairdressers. I just give myself a trim at home. I won't be offended by what you say, I'm just interested.I'd like to know what some hairdressers honestly think when you get a client with scalp psoriasis?
Hi, my experience is that the experienced hairdressers know about psoriasis and are not afraid of it. The ';newbies'; may take some explaining but I wouldn't bother. Go for the older professionals without a worry. Also, I may suggest that you should try one of the natural treatments available on the Internet (just google ';natural treatment of scalp psoriasis';) and take your pick. Some of them do actually work. For my psor. I use herbal cream by Champori quite successfully. It takes just a couple of weeks to clear the spots and they then stay clear for months on end.

Try it: Champori comes with money back guarantee so if it doesn't work for you - it's free.

    Cheers,

StellaI'd like to know what some hairdressers honestly think when you get a client with scalp psoriasis?
I'm not a hairdresser, but i think people will think it gross only because they don't know what it is.

When you make an appointment just mention that you have it. Then when you come in to the appointment, mention it to the hair dresser again.

Is it ok to go to a Hairdressers with gel/wax in your hair?

Is it ok to go to a Hairdressers with gel/wax in your hair and expect them to either wash it before cutting or not wash it and cut through it?

Or should people only go to the hairdressers with nothing in their hair? Because if this is the case then how are you supposed to walk around all day with messy hair until you go to the hairdressers? Is it ok to go to a Hairdressers with gel/wax in your hair?
they will not cut through it. if you expect them to wash it expect to pay for them to. if you dont want to wash it before. wear a hat that day if you dont want people to see ur messy hairIs it ok to go to a Hairdressers with gel/wax in your hair?
i think you should at least wash your hair before going and getting your hair done especially if you use gel (i didn't think people used gel anymore). But yeah if i was a hairdresser i would be highly upset if i had to not only do someones hair but undo the mess they walked in with.

it's common cutesy these people do like probably about 10 heads a day we can at least help them out by washing our own even though they will wash when we get there.
I almost always go to the hairdresser with product in my hair. They expect to wash it out, it's not an inconvenience to them. In fact, it makes it easier for you AND them, because it lets them see your hair styled the way you like it when you get there so they don't have to guess
They can cut your hair with it in, it may just be harder...but they also can wash your hair before they cut it, it only takes a few mins longer.

    please answer?!:)

    http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;鈥?/a>
I did that once with gel in my hair. She just squirted water on it and rubbed it through the gel and just cut it like that, my hair was really fluffy afterwards though
Usually they will wash your hair before they cut it so it will make no difference what hair products you have in your hair.
I once went to the hairdressers with the same predicament and they made me wash it first. I of course had to pay for it. Any decent hairdresser shouldn't be too bothered...
yeah the hairdresser would wash it for you that's what they are their for so don't worry about it.
yes. make sure you bring a hammer and chisel with you.
    Wear a HAT!

Is it bad to go to your hairdressers with clean damp hair or does it not matter?

I'd suggest not going with wet hair in my opinion.

It is easier for the hairdresser to figure out how your hair would hang with a particular cut if it is dry.

Try not to wahs your hair in the morning if you know you are going to the hairdressers in only a few hours or even just blow dry it. :)Is it bad to go to your hairdressers with clean damp hair or does it not matter?
sometimes they wash it but if its already damp then they'll probally just spray it lightly with water so that its easier to cutIs it bad to go to your hairdressers with clean damp hair or does it not matter?
It doesn't really matter. I prefer to go and let them wash my hair because they can style it better if they wash it first but It doesn't really matter.
    any way is fine
It doesn't matter as long as you dont get it re-washed then it's fine.

P.S. Tell them to OIL your scalp because if you're hair is clean and dry and it itches you may mistake it for being dirty.
    it doesn't matter

they'll probably spray it with water anyway
No because they usually wet it or wash it anyway =]

Are you expected to tip hairdressers and beauticians?

I'm enquiring about a situation where the hairdresser or beautician is not the actual owner of the place, but is an employee. Are you expected to tip hairdressers and beauticians?
If the person is the actual owner then I guess you don't need to tip but if the person is an employee, it depends on whether you want to tip.

They won't seize you by the arm if you don't tip. Personally, I think tipping is a nice gesture. Are you expected to tip hairdressers and beauticians?
I mean I would reccommend it especially if YOU feel it was a job well done that great effort was put into it. In addition you gotta digg the hairstyle :-)
Yes, at least 15% of your total tab.
In the US on the west coast, we do.
if they are nice, why not?
my hair costs about $95-$110........i tip about $20. that's a lot isn't it? i've only been getting my hair done for about a year and it's only like every 6 to 8 weeks. i can't cut down the tip now, can i?

    is that a good tip?

i need to post a question.
    yes you should
not expected, but if you get good service you should $1 to $5 sounds fair
if they did a good job i would. i used to tip all hairdressers even when they botched up my hair and now i regret doing that. one time this lady really messed up my hair so bad and she had no remorse whatsoever, i really wish i didnt give her a tip at all!
I tip them.. actually I don't really know anybody who doesn't..
i think you should i give them about 5 dollars :] if your happy with your hair of course if not give less
This has always been something that I feel ';awkward'; about. I get my haair cut by a professional stylist, and I tip her $10.00, sometimes $15.00; depending on the service. But please, keep in mind, that my stylist knows what I want when I want it. That is why I don't go to some **** hole like SuperCuts.
I don't think there is any rule about this, but I always try to tip the guy who cuts my hair. Not a whole lot, but usually $5.00 if I just get my hair cut, and if I get highlights and a cut, I usually give him $10.00.

Every person has their own thoughts on this. Some people say I'm stupid... others tip more than I do.

    Hope this helps!

How would I ask for a hairstyle like this at the hairdressers?

    http://www.thehairstyler.com/images/celebrity/Celebrity_687.jpg

I love Sarah Chalke's hair here, I know it would suit me etc, but I dunn how I'd go about asking for it. Could someone give me the TECHNICAL (ok wrong word wtevr) language about how I'd aske? How would I ask for a hairstyle like this at the hairdressers?
The best thing to do is just print the picture out and show her instead of tryin to describe it. Maybe try finding similar pictures of the hairstyle to give a better idea of what you want. Sometimes one photo might not show enough of what u want but a few can kinda give the stylist a better idea. The last time i went to get my hair cut, I brought in two photos. One that had a view of the hairstyle in front and the other of what it looked like on the side.

    ***************

---%26gt; If you don't have a printer maybe look in a magazine you might have and cut out a picture. Also at the hair salons you have magazines to look at and i'm sure one of the millions of pics in those magazines will have a similar hairstyle to what you are wanting. Basically it looks like shoulder length hair (maybe an inch lower than the shoulders) with the bangs coming down an inch or so below the chin bone. The rest of the hair has layers in it.How would I ask for a hairstyle like this at the hairdressers?
    ';I'd like a shoulder length cut, with a side part, and outgrown looking bangs that flow from the right to the left side of my head.';

    That should be it.

Just a firendly tip, Hairdressers really appreciate it if you print out the picture and give it to them. It sounds silly, but hey, it works!
Take the picture in. Just show your hairdresser the picture and she will know more by that then you trying to explain to her the look in ';big tequnical'; terms.
You could show them the picture and ask them to cut your hair like it. That is what I do! Hope I helped.
show the picture to your stylist, and there you go.
take the picture with you, that way the hairdresser has to understand you
what the other girls said take the picture with you
You could just print the picture and take it to the salon with you. x

Is it worth getting a blow dry/styling at a hairdressers?

I'm going to get my hair cut soon, and I want to know if it's worth paying the extra money to have my hair blow dried and styled.

    I have a few questions:

    1. If it's not blow dried, does that mean I'll get a dry cut?

    2. Are dry cuts lower quality?

    3. Will the price (which is currently 拢35 I think) be lowered substantially by just getting the cut?

    4. Is it really worth it?

Thanks. Is it worth getting a blow dry/styling at a hairdressers?
getting your hair washed and blow dryed usually makes your hair look better and it is easier for the hairdresses to cut your hair as their are no fly away bits. its usually girls who need the wash and blow dry and you dont really need it, it will bring the price down by aroun 10-15 pound.

good luck xxxIs it worth getting a blow dry/styling at a hairdressers?
    1. they might just not dry it and have to walk out with a wet head

    2. i like to cut wet and then dry it so i can see how the hair lays and cut it dry and also check my cut when it is dry.

    3. most likely no. its still the same work. though ask the hairdresser they might lower it if you ask

    4. i say it is plus u will feel good about your hair when you leave.

plus when u get your haircut make sure u are going out it will make u feel even better!

  • Reasonably priced but good Hairdressers in Purley area London?

Will appreciate if anyone knows of some good %26amp; reasonable hairdressing saloons( for women) that do hair color and cut in around Purley, East %26amp; West Croydon areas as well-Thanks a bunchReasonably priced but good Hairdressers in Purley area London?
Cheap hairdressers won't do you hair as well, which is why they're cheap. You need to do your research. Another option is to get a student haircut from a professional hairdressing academy, they're only around 拢5 and although they have pretty much free reign on your hair for that price they always give people awesome cuts. Try Vidal sassoon or maybe RUSH.

How much do hairdressers/makeup artists make working for an agency doing editorial work?

I am a hairdresser but my goal is to be employed with an agency to do editorial work such as magazines, photo shoots, and runway. I also have been having trouble finding information and/or mentors to help me. So I'm just wondering how much they make in general.

Are there any hairdressers on here that could advise me on how to layer my own hair?

Your help would be most appreciated, my hair is down to the bottom of my back and Id really like either myself or my mother to layer it as Ive had it all one length too long. I'm also asking as I've had problems previously going to hairdressers. ThanxAre there any hairdressers on here that could advise me on how to layer my own hair?
http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en%26amp;rlz鈥?/a>Are there any hairdressers on here that could advise me on how to layer my own hair?
What I do is take the top section of my hair (from the top of my head) and separate it from the rest of my hair. Then I gather the rest of my hair and clip it back. I cut the top part of my hair to a desired length (you'll want it shorter than you're going to cut the other part) and then I make the front sections (by my face) shorter by cutting diagonally down and out. When you are satisfied with this, put this section of your hair up and take the other part down. Trim it and do the same thing you did for the sections by your face, making sure you don't cut it shorter than your other layer. Then when you're done, brush it all out and see how it looks.
I agree with DJ. I have cut my hair for years. I have shoulder length now and it doesn't require much other than a trim but when I do go the beautician I watch how she does my cut and I try to come home and copy it. I have had some really great ladies / men cut my hair and have been pleased with it.

It is very scary to find and use a new beautician. Ask everyone around you and if you see someone with a great hair cut / color always ask where they get there hair done.

If you decide to cut it yourself, start small and remember that you can always cut more later. If you cut if off all at first you are stuck with the results until it grows back out.
Hi as Salon Owner and a stylist, the answer is don't

at the length of your hair, it would get ruined, you do need a professional, when you go to a salon be very very explicit be in charge and know exactly what you want done, do not let the stylist deviate from it, having layers put in your hair at this type of length you are going to have quite a bit of hair cut of I do hope you realise that
I doubt very much that a hairdresser will advise you to layer your own hair under any circumstances. Think about it.
i don't think you use the right method anyway i use this page, i works for me really well an all

    How much can hairdressers earn?

What is the starting salary for a junior stylist and what is the max salary they can earn? How much can hairdressers earn?
they start on a very low salary as you are learning, i think about 拢150 a week if that. after that, it goes up a bit, to about 拢225 a week or there abouts.

if u are thinking of training as a hairdresser, do it. i wish i had. u can make loads of money from doing friends and familys hair as well, so u can make an extra income from that. How much can hairdressers earn?
It depends on where you are( what city), and what services you are performing, and how good you are are. If i was you i would really learn how to do hair infusions( if you dont know how already) i know people pay $500 to $2000 per head. That sounds damn good to me.
You can do OK while you are younger. By that I mean, it seems like a lot of money when you are younger. When you have children, and a house payment, you realize it isn't that great anymore.

It really depends on the salon you are in. If you can get into a good salon and work your way up, after several years you could be in good shape. However, you will have quite a bit of time where you make basically notihing. While the walk in/budget salons offer a lot of quick clientelle, you make less. Many people do not tip in these salons. The commission scale is often crazy to the point where you can't keep track of what you have made.

In FL, where I worked most of my career, there was a base guarantee ($200/wk) or 50% commission, whichever is greater, in most salons. Ohio required an hourly wage, so I made $9 there (as salon manager), and because of the hourly it was very hard to make commission. As a non-manager, we paid $5.15/hour.

I went back to college after 12 years of doing hair-I would reccommend you do the same. It is hard on your body and you don't make a lot of money. Plus, the people can be SO mean!

thanks!Any way of straightening hair without hair straighteners or getting it done at the hairdressers?
paddle bush and a hairdryer. i had my quite curly hair done in italy and all he used was a paddle brush and a hairdryer, with a teeny bit of serum afterwards and it looked AMAZING. it was like glass!Any way of straightening hair without hair straighteners or getting it done at the hairdressers?
Blow-dry it section by section with a hairdryer, should come out nice and straight
    Try these links:
iron it with a steam iron.

but not if you have really short, cropped hair!!!
As long as you use a setting first the hair straightener will not hurt it. Or you can try when you are blow drying it to use a brush to straighten it. They have brushed that are made like straighteners but no heat. You could use that with the blow dryer or try it by its self. this is the brush http://www.folica.com/Ceramicai_Style_d1706.html
