When I go to the salon and pay $150+ for my highlights and cut, how much of this does the hairdresser get to keep? Is it a percentage? Or do they have to pay so much money a month to work there?
I just wonder because when you pay that much plus a $25 tip.. I'd like to know how much she gets to keep.How much money do hairdressers get to keep?
Stylist either work one of 3 ways.....
By hourly rate (which is rare) + tips
Rent t the chair...in which case they keep the entire amount charged plus tip

It all depends on what their arrangements are with the salon. Could be booth rent, or a percentage of what they take in, or a flat rate. It all depends.
they only keep the tip. depending on what type of salon...
remember, they have to pay for the booths they rent out. at my job, the stylists don't have to pay to rent them out, so they only keep the tips they make and all the money they get goes straight to the store. they get paid hourly.
